Our Ukrainian Partners

KYIV - Katya and Edik

Before the war, Katya ran a logistics and importing business. Following the invasion, she adapted her network to distribute critical aid throughout the country. Katya’s network has a wide reach across Ukraine, and provides a myriad of support from evacuating civilians across the border to delivering critical aid supplies to the front lines and towns under siege. Operating out of a convention hall in Kyiv, Katya is able to receive large deliveries and quickly distribute supplies across the country to where they are needed most. Katya’s volunteers frequently travel to recently liberated or currently under attack regions to hand deliver aid. They also work with a number of refugee centers in Kyiv to provide clothing and essential goods to displaced peoples. Katya warehoused the shipment of hygiene supplies donated by our partners at Hines and John Lewis & Co and, on the September 2022 Sunflower Network mission, assisted us in distributing the supplies to civilians in Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and other places that were formerly under Russian occupation.

LVIV - Andriy & Ira, Pavlo & Olenka

Pavlo and Olenka live in Lviv with their two daughters and have stayed in Ukraine since the onset of the war. Pavlo works for a dairy company based in Lviv. As the head of distribution, Pavlo leverages his logistics network to transport goods and aid from Europe  throughout Ukraine. On our Sunflower Network missions, Pavlo and Olenka have generously opened their homes to us helping make our journeys possible.

Andriy and Ira live just outside Lviv city. Before the war, Andriy was a mechanic and Ira a pediatric dermatologist. Since the invasion, they have transformed their garage into a staging area for humanitarian aid and Andriy has received special permissions from the Ukrainian government to travel over the border and out of the country. This allows for Andriy to pick-up critical supplies in Romania, Poland and Slovakia and personally drive them over the border without having to complete a transnational handoff. Andriy and Ira have helped Sunflower Network travel over the border and prepare for travel deeper into the country.

ZAKARPATTIA - Alex and Lori

Sasha and Lori sprung into action immediately following Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine. Faced with the realities of martial law and an inability for men to leave, Sasha and Lori rented a hotel in the Carpathian mountains and got to work transforming the space into a hybrid refugee shelter and humanitarian aid warehouse which they acutely named the “Ant Hill.” Currently, the “Ant Hill” serves as a temporary home for internally displaced peoples before they return to their homes in Ukraine or travel across the border to Poland. They also personally deliver supplies to front line areas on a regular basis. Sunflower Network has visited the “Ant Hill” on two of our missions to deliver supplies that are needed by refugees in the shelter or in front line areas.

BRODY - Brody Community

Sunflower Network has been connected with the Brody Community to deliver aid to the front lines. This aid ranges from hospital aid to 4x4’s. On Sunflower Network’s September mission, five of the 11 donated vehicles were driven to Brody to be distributed to other parts of the country where they are needed most.

DNIPRO - Anastasiya

Anastasiya leverages her deep network of hospital and orphanage relationships to serve her country in the east, where fighting has been particularly fierce. She has been an important Sunflower Network partner in receiving, sorting, warehousing, and distributing supplies to civilians in need.
